Copyright is an exclusive right given by law to the authors, composers and artist to reproduce the work for publishing and selling them to public. Copyright is just like an asset which you can sell to someone else for consideration.
When you do some literary, dramatic, musical , artistic film recording, painting, a photograph, a poem or record any sound or song which is unique and has never been done before by any person, then you definitely do not want that somebody else copy your creativity, but it should not mean that you shall conceal your creative works from everyone.

Application for registration is to be made on Form XIV (Including Statement of Particulars and Statement of Further Particulars) as prescribed in the first schedule to the Rules.
After filing an application for copyright along with complete details and copies, the author has to wait for a mandatory 30 days.
The applications should be signed by the applicant or the advocate in whose favour a Vakalatnama or Power of Attorney has been executed. The Power of Attorney signed by the party and accepted by the advocate should also be enclosed.
The fee is either in the form of Demand Draft, Indian Postal Order favouring "Registrar of Copyright Payable at New Delhi" or through E payment.
Normally, it may take 2-3 months time for registering copyright of any work in the normal course.
